Henrik Ibsen

Henrik was born in Skien. As a kid he has aways dream of becoming an artist, his mother was an avid painter and loves the theatre. His father was a merchant but had money problems then their family had to move to Venstop farmhouse. In 1850 he went to school at Heltberg's Student Factory where in the same year he wrote 2 plays and one of them was "The Burial Mound", it was a very popular. He was appointed in 1851 by Ole Bull as a "Stage Poet".

In 1858 he married Suzannah Thoresen and had one kid, Sigurd the next year. Many of Ibsen's plays couldn't attract an audience, causing him money problems. This help his decision to move abroad. In 1864 he got financial help from Bjornstjerne Bjornson and travle abroad for 27 years. He wrote A Doll's House in 1879, it was a social drama, the play was about a women refuses to obey her husband and walk out of her apparently perfect marriage.
